Sewage stinks!
Yes folks, it is a messy and smelly problem ... and we are still dealing with it. That's right, it has been almost two weeks since the main lines around our house became full of back flow from the apartment complexes sewer lines behind us. After 15 hours of non-stop flowage, I've now got a yard full of this crud.
Ever wonder what those little white caps are for in your yard? Well, they are called 'clean outs' and they are access ways to the sewer lines. Using an auger (like along metal snake) a person can dig down in there to theoretically unblock the clog ups. Unfortunately, we had 3 of these flowing in out yard at one time ...TRIPLE YUCK!

This is what the side of my house looks like...

And here's my back yard. What was once bright green grass is now all a dingy grey (that's all the toilet paper) and the brown and black? .... well, I think you get the idea.
If you think the pictures are gross, just be thankful that I am not showing you the closeups ...and be thankful too that your screen isn't a scratch-n-sniff!

I've been calling the water company and they have finally agreed to come and clean up the mess, that that was supposed to be last week .... ugh, will this just ever all go away? :(

Look who's sitting up now!
Yep, this little sweety isn't even 6 months old yet and she's sitting up like a champ! Her mom and dad wanted some photos in the wildflowers and then at the park.
Today's wildflower shot was much brighter that last time I went, but with some great help what looked like this ....
After a few minutes here in the flowers, we went on down to the Lions park and took some great photos.
Now say it with me ....

And even though this little one was in a great mood today, no baby shoot would be complete without a few of these moments!

New ordering & pricing system comming soon!
Hello to all! I am so excited to announce that business is doing so well that I am now able to upgrade my online ordering processes! With this new system (and Lab) I can now offer Gift Certificates, print credits, 2 for 1 sales, discount incentives for early ordering ... did I mention 2 for 1 offers? ... and lots more! Plus, with my new system, there will no longer be any long waits for image posting, wrong orders, missing prints, shipping delays ... everything should run smooth and seamlessly!
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about this new chapter in my business! ... silly me, I'm actually excited about my new print lab!
Within the next few weeks I will be contacting all of my old/current/future customers under contract to explain this new and improved system ... even if you have a contracted agreement with me for x-amount of 4x6's, 5x7's or whatever, believe me when I tell you that this new system will be sooooooooo much more appealing for you to consider changing over too! (Have I mentioned the 2 for 1 offers available yet? )
If you want to know more about my new system when it's ready, be sure to subscribe to this blog (see the upper right hand corner)... you wont be sorry!

A test run at the salon
Yesterday evening I was able to join lovely Lisa at Madame Make up & Hair to give her wedding day makeup and hair a test run. All I can say is WOW! Those ladies know what they are doing! Lisa looked stunning in her wedding day glamor! I can't wait to see her all dolled up and in the wedding gown! She's gonna make my job way to easy!
Now, of course we wouldn't want the groom-to-be to see her all dolled up before the wedding day, so this is the only photo that I can share for now. (I'm so sneaky because in black and white nobody can even tell what colors she's gonna wear!)

Life ... back to normal :)
Well, tomorrow is Tuesday, and hopefully the beginning of a new and improved week! Between the time change, traveling, Spring Break and Easter all being rolled into one, I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to my normal 'boring' life! I have loads of images to work on, orders to place, weddings to process & post and suppers to make, but I am looking forward to it all!
Also, as an added bonus, I was able to snag me two great new lenses that I've been eyeing for quite some time ... with my newly recharged batteries I'm gonna need some fresh faces to point them at! I'm thinking of having a few free mini-sessions just to help me break them in ... keep your eyes open for an announcement pretty soon!

In a funk ....
Ever have those days where you feel kinda 'off'? .... like really OFF? Well, I swear that I have been feeling this way for the last two weeks ...ughh! It feels like nothing that I do turns out right ... I've had my bank account violated and wiped out ... left the radio on in my car and drained the battery ... broke my cell phone into two pieces ... paid for gas and drove off without pumping it in ... washed a tube of lipstick with my colored clothes .... took pictures (personal ones) with out a memory card ... broke 3 fingernails in two days .... sigh, the list is endless!
Will this funk ever go away? ..... bigger sigh ..... I sure hope so!

Cindy & Josh are married!
I just got back from shooting a wonderful wedding in South Texas. The newly weds Cindy and Josh had a beautiful (and emotional) ceremony followed by a fantastic reception with their two loving families. Along with the bridal portraits that I could not post earlier, here are a few of the shots that the DJ let me put up on the projection screen during the dance .... what a treat :)
And don't worry ... I'll share more after I get some much needed rest!

Earlier during the wedding day, the groom surprised his bride to be with an emotional gift ... a framed photo of her grandparents on their wedding day.

I just love this shot! .... she's such a beautiful bride!

Father, son and bride at the altar having a quiet moment.

Here's the bride and her sister sharring a few laughs before getting dressed.

The hands of the sister getting Cindy dressed ...

The happy couple! ... congrats to you both!

Congrats to Roger & Riki!
Well, this year for Leap Day I had the pleasure of spending time with an awesome (and crazy) family to celebrate the wedding of Roger & Riki. What fun! The entire event was held at the stunning Canyon Springs Golf course, and let me tell ya, this place is gorgeous! The setting was perfect with a beautiful sunset, a happy wedding party and of course the love struck bride and groom! Plus as an extra treat I got to bring with me my newest photography friend and wedding assistant Chasity Furse. Without her wonderful assistance my day would have never run so smoothly!
Here's a little glance at the perfect day ...

And here are the fabulously fun children of the bride!

Happy Birthday to Annabelle!
This weekend I was able to capture this sweet little girl's 4th birthday party! What fun! There was a ton of kids and thanks to the awesome hosts everyone one of them had smiles from ear to ear! From the food, the bouncer and all the way to the surprise scavenger hunt, this family pulled off a great party. PLUS, these poor parents were trying to put together a family move in the middle of her party! It was funny to see the U-haul in the front of the house and the birthday bounce in the back ... but you know what? It totally worked! I was honored that I was asked to bear witness to all of the fun and capture those great smiles! Here's a few fun photos of her and her darling sister from that day...
The birthday girl in her glorry!

The kids were treated to a cool ice-cream cake .... ok, so that was a bad pun!

Isn't her little sister just so stinking cute !?!?!
Make a wish and happy birthday sweety!

A short day at the park

Well this weekend we definitely had a chalenge for us. Saturday was just a wet and ugly day. and because of the crummy weather, we had to stay home and inside the entire day. Needless to say, on Sunday my kids were going stir crazy! The weather was just beautifull on Sunday but my poor son was dealling with a sour tummy all weekend too boot. On the kids request we took them over to the park to play on thier favorite climbing tree for a while. But my poor baby asked to go back home after only being there for less than an hour :(
I got to take a few pictures of them with my favorite little lens and I like to call this shot "The lookout." Hopefully my little sweety will start to feel well enough to leave the house for school on Monday ... only time will tell.

A house warming gift.

Well, for my good friends Kim & David Daniels, I'm sure they thought this month would never come! But, it's true ... their house is DONE! After putting up with crummy weather, slow workers, pricing wars and my husbands (the home builder) antics, David and Kim finally have their beautiful home to live in! Being the ever-relentless photographer that I am, I wanted to give them a personal gift to enjoy in the new home. So, on one of my frequent visits during the construction process, I took my trusty Canon with me and snapped away. After looking at all of the captured images, I finally settled on this cool fence shot. I didn't mean to go out shooting fence posts (who would!) but as the sun was setting and the light started bouncing off of the barbed wire I just saw this awesome and peaceful image! I just hope they like it as much as I do!
So, again, congrats to Kim & David ... here's to wishing you both many happy years in your new castle :)

Fun with 'Textures' in Photoshop

Ok, so I am still having way too much fun with my little Lensbaby lens!
This is a composite of two photos … the adorable girl is a shot I got of my friends little darling. The funky ‘texture’ that has been added to it is a Lensbaby image that I captured just for a treatment like this … too fun! I could totally see using the technique with senior images! Way fun!

The stunning Koehler House

Great big congrats to Leo & Lisa for their upcoming July wedding! I got the chance to meet up with them at their chose wedding venue place, the Koehler House! Talk about some serious eye candy! This historical house is simply stunning on it’s own; I can only imagine how it is going to look once it is all dolled up for their big day! The evening promises to be simply beautiful! Here’s a fun shot that I took using my favorite little toy, the Lensbaby!

Yes, I'm getting ANOTHER bag!

Yikes! This will be bag number .... umm .... I lost count! For those of you that know me, you know that I absolutely LOVE my bags by Gina Alexander! Some ladies buy shoes ... I buy bags! But not just any bags ... these bags have pictures of my babies on them! (Ok, so a 5 and 7 year older can't really be considered a baby, but you know what I mean!) I'll be running a special on my session fees for the entire month of March for those of you parents or grandparents that want a custom purse of your own ... just contact me and we'll get you one too!
And what picture did I chose this time? .... well, one side will have my girl and the other will have this shot of my son. Thank goodness I only have two kids! I wonder, do they make 3 sided purses?!?!?! LOL!
