Such a strange season

This year has been strange for sure! Besides booking a record amount of weddings this year, I've had so many cancellations! Their have been two weddings that have been moved to another date and three that have just canceled out ... right in the middle of their contracts! Weird! It sure does make things hard on my marketing and education schedule when I had planned meetings and payments bag on me. I think it's time for me to go and review my contracts and put some clauses that will protect me a little bit more from all of these run away weddings ... or at the very least I need to review my business plan! This summers roller coaster of events has made me realize that I can not depend on weddings alone to support my business. I need to get back to pursuing my studio and portraiture work which is how I got into photography to begin with.

So with the advent of my newly opened weekends, I'm taking this time to revamp my in-home studio! Plus, on the brighter side, I was supposed to be shooting 10 weddings in a row this summer but now that I've had all of these cancellations and postponements I'm going to get to spend some quality time with the family during these summer weekends!

This weekends wedding

I'm friends with a few fellow photographers here and this weekend I was asked to second shoot for my good friend Chasity Furse... we second shoot a lot of times for each other! Her bride and groom was some serious eye candy for sure! Talk about a knock out couple... and sweethearts to boot!!!! When second shooting, you don't always get a chance to direct any of your own shots ... but we work so well together that I usually get to direct to my hearts content! These are some of my favorite shots that I got to set up.

In the stairwell at the church ...
The B&G took us to a sweet little park just blocks away from the church site. Luckily it had some wonderful pockets of light to work with!Another from that park ... The reception location had this great wall of greenery!
While Chasity was working with the bride I pulled the groom aside for some head shots and I saw this great shot! Lucky me! I just love this shot!!!!!

Engagement pics in Corpus!

Yes, it was HOT, SUNNY and WINDY! Did I mention that it was HOT, SUNNY and WINDY!?!?!

But, this couple was so great about it all! My bride is from Corpus Christi and she wanted a little bit of her home town infused into her wedding ... so it was just a perfect idea on her part to take the photos down at the coast! Despite the glarring sun and blasting wind, we got some killer shots!

My mother/daughter session!

Well, for the longest time I have been promising my 6 year older that I'd try and grow my hair out like hers. But after a long realization I have come to remember that I HATE wearing my hair long again! I guess I've had it short for too long now!
So, I have a date with my brother tomorrow who is a master stylist (his wife does the colors and he does the cuts ... but I'm only gona do the cuts!).
I promised my little girl that we'd take some photos together before the big chop ... so with the help of a tri-pod, remote trigger and my hubby this is what we got ....

Her ... I just love the hair!

Us together ... yes, she's a exact copy of me at that age ;)

And lastly I snuck in a few headshots of my self ... I figured it was time to change my portfolio pic.

Jumping waves!

Ask a kid to jump over the waves and you'll get great results every time ;)

I took these this weekend down on the Texas coast ... my September B&G wanted engagement shots on the beach so we decided to make a weekend out of it! Upon their request we took my kids with me and planned a day out on the water after the actual engagement session.

Fun Fun!!!

My daughter ...

And my Son .... I just love how they jump so differently!

Thank you both so much Selina and Kenny for making this weekend so great for me and my family! We couldn't have felt more welcome!

Baby Will is home!

I got the great treat to see this little guy again only after being a few days old. Can you believe that he slept through his entire session ... ahh, such a hard life ;)

Here's baby Will with his big sister ... she's always so fast to try and capture, so I was part thrilled and mostly lucky that I caught this little look!

Daddy with his newest little fishing buddy ... you did good Chris!

Sleeping babies are just so sweet!

What a fun couple!

Yes, Robin and her fiance Michael were so easy going and great to work with! Robin knows me and my camera quite well by now but I needed to loosen up the groom a bit ... easy peasy!

After a few simple shots and lots of laughs this couple relaxed and gave me some killer shots ....
